Since 2009, a major project to bring more materials on-line has been developed - Digitizing Immigrant Letters
About the archives:
Started in the early 1960s, IHRC Archives is a unit of the Archives and Special Collections department within the University of Minnesota Libraries. Since its inception, it has had a close collaborative relationship with the Immigration History Research Center (IHRC) of the College of Liberal Arts.
The IHRCA's holdings consist of a library of published materials, a collection of serials and newspapers, and approximately 2,000 individual archival collections of personal papers and organizational records. The materials document a variety of immigrant experiences in the United States post-1848, with the bulk of the holdings pertaining to immigrants and refugees arriving between 1880 and 1980.
