Dramatski Zbor "Nada" was formed in 1923 with ties to the Jugoslav Educational Federation, an immigrant organization which also published the newspapers Novi Svijet (later Znanje). The newspapers publicized the Society's activities. The plays Nada performed fell into three categories: great Croatian historical dramas such as August Senoa's Zlatarevo Zlato (The Goldsmith's Gold); classics like Gogol's Revizor (The Inspector General); and proletarian plays such as Osloboditelji (The Liberators).
