HISTORICAL SKETCH

During its formation, the publishing company of the Finnish American newspaper Idan Uutiset was referred to in its minutes as both the National Publishing Company and the Finnish Newspaper Company. In 1897, it became known as the Idan Uutiset Publishing Company. The Swede-Finn newspaper Finska Amerikanaren (now the Norden) was formed at about the same time to serve Swedish speaking Finns.
