HISTORICAL SKETCH

A civic, religious, and welfare organization, The League of Americans of Ukrainian Descent, Inc., was founded in 1940 and has its headquarters in Chicago, Ill. It has 8,000 members in 52 branches. The League coordinates the activities of similar organizations; its major emphasis is on aiding Ukrainians in need. It also sponsors English language classes and conducts and particiaptes in cultural activities.
