HISTORICAL SKETCH

An organist and cantor born in Astoria, OR, Riippa (1906-1970) studied music and worked in Finland during the 1930s and early 1940s, returning to Astoria with his family in 1947, where he taught music. Later he edited several Finnish American newspapers.
