A composer and music teacher, Wasyl Shut (1899- ) was born in Zolotnosha, Ukraine. He graduated from the Kiev Institute of Music and Drama in 1930. After coming to the United States, he opened a music school in Chicago, Ill. in 1951. He served as accompanist and choir director and composed prolifically.
