Hello!
The IHRC is constituted by many activities and processes executed by a group of dedicated individuals. I work primarily with the Center's archival holdings and the people who come here to use them in their research. This includes tasks such as:
- communicating with on-site and off-site researchers and trying to match their research projects with relevant sources from the Center's holdings
- processing archival collections and creating finding aids
- building the "Research collections" section of the Center's web site
- learning more and more about immigration and migration
- digitizing selected materials from the Center's collections
One of the great benefits of working for a research center like the IHRC is being able to move daily at a place where people and their ideas, sometimes from unexpected areas, bump into each other and, sometimes, spark.
My education so far has been provided by cultures of two continents, mostly, and is still in progress, I hope.
When I used to have free time, I spent some of it on several translation projects, and some have since been published, but few things are better than an abundant snowfall, in Minnesota and elsewhere.
